Construction Project Manager

Job Summary:

Develop and maintain a reporting process for each agency design and construction project and prepare weekly reports of progress to the Chief Engineer and the Director of the Division of Natural Resources.    

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with selecting and hiring design professionals in a manner compliant with state law for all projects where these services are necessary.  Make recommendations to the Chief Engineer and negotiate scope and fees for contracts with design professionals in accordance with approved general scope and fee guidelines.
  • Coordinate all agency construction and/or maintenance projects.  Manage the procurement/purchasing process.
  • Set schedules in accordance with agency needs and other considerations.
  • Track progress of each project against the schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinate project financing with appropriate agencies.
  • Process purchase orders and contracts for design & construction in a timely manner
  • Conduct site visits to check compliance with plans and specifications, safety requirements, and environmental compliance.
  • Meet with project teams to assure project costs, schedules and implementation are in accordance with project schedule and contract documents.

Job Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of effective practices of construction project management.
  • Knowledge of current construction costs, materials and time periods for project design and construction phases.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings and construction project contracts
