CDI Engineering Solutions is seeking an Instrument Specialist to work at our Team Site in Nederland, TX.  This is a full-time, long-term, benefited position.  

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Provide daily support to Operations and Maintenance which includes leading control and instrument activities, ensuring hardware and software platforms are operating without fault at high reliability levels, supporting operations during troubleshooting, upsets or emergencies, and improving instruments and controls. 

  • Provide support for specification, design, purchase, installation and commissioning of instrumentation, control systems, and SIS systems for projects to maintain or improve plant safety, profitability, efficiency and reliability.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities: 

  • Must be available for emergency call-outs via phone and in person to support plant operations from an instrumentation standpoint.

  • Experienced in general duties of an Instrument Specialist for a petrochemical facility.

  • Supports equipment maintenance of Yokogawa DCS; Previous experience with Yokogawa is highly preferred.

  • Troubleshoots instrument problems for Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering. 

  • Checks P&ID’s for correct instrumentation and conformance to plant standards for change management and project work. 

  • Attends project review meeting for reviewing process and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s). 

  • Plans and supervises the work of instrumentation construction contractors. 

  • Evaluates and implements new instrument technologies including Safety Instrumental Systems.

  • Assists with development of instrument upgrade projects. 

  • Provides training and technical support for I&E Technicians. 

Job Qualification, Skills & Requirements: 

  • 5+ years experience in all phases of instrument/electrical systems design and installation required.

  • 3+ years experience working in a petrochemical facility supporting plant instrumentation systems required. 

  • AAS Technology degree, preferably in Instrumentation.

  • Experience with the Yokogawa DCS system required.

  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.

  • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.

  • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.

  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.

  • Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.

  • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.

  • Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
