E&I Construction Coordinator

CDI Engineering Solutions is seeking an E&I Construction Coordinator to work at our Team Site in Geismar, LA. This is a full-time, benefited position.  The duration of this assignment is 6-12 months. 

Job Summary: 

  • Strong E&I knowledge.  
  • Coordinate field work, field check drawings, assist with drawing reviews, assist with commissioning, etc.  for both electrical and instrument disciplines. 
  • Assist with Arc Flash study information gathering. 
  • Organize and coordinate mechanical, technical, and operation resources, materials, and activities according to client project schedules and plans to achieve the project goals and objectives. 
  • Oversee and schedule contractors, plant production and maintenance. 
  • Ensure that plant safety requirements are followed.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Plan and oversee layout of equipment, office and production facilities.
  • Plan with production and maintenance groups to schedule new construction activities in conjunction with routine production and maintenance operations.
  • Organize set-up and dismantle of temporary facilities for projects.
  • Conduct studies in operations to maximize workflow and spatial utilization.
  • Communicate with Construction Managers, Specialists, Contract Specialists, Contractor Management, Superintendents, Foremen and Project Engineers.
  • Provide project leadership under the direct supervision of a Construction Manager.
  • Responsible for designated project results.
  • Report on status of project in the assigned work to Construction Manager.
  • Establish and define assigned project organization.
  • May supervise in-house, lump sum and subcontractors to achieve project requirements.
  • Administer contractor activities from setting up to conducting kick-off meetings.
  • Maintain detailed up-to-date project files.
  • Interface with the engineering and design groups on project details, field changes and interferences.
  • Work toward providing customer satisfaction with project results.
  • Comply with all CDI operating guidelines and standards, including ISO – 9001 standards.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • 5+ years of E&I Construction Coordinator experience in the plant.
  • Strong E&I knowledge.
  • Some knowledge of, but primarily of own discipline, project construction, material management, cost control.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Leadership capability and above average communication skills.
  • Demonstration of the ability to solve problems and make decisions at a task force level.
  • Planning and organizational talent.
  • Manages a group of construction workers.

Education/Degree Requirements: High school education or equivalent with basic construction knowledge from a Vo-tech or other applicable program with a minimum of 6 years of inspection or construction experience.
