Controls System Engineer

The Control Systems Engineer supporting projects provides control systems engineering / instrumentation support and project coordination for the Convent Projects Organization for the conceptual design, detail design, execution, and startup support of capital projects.

The Control Systems Engineer has a functional working knowledge of control systems applications and hardware, digital systems, process operation and theory, operational goals, instrumentation, ESP (ensure safe production) variables, constraints, key quality specifications for feeds and products, impact on the environment, and major economic variables and how they impact site profitability.
Control systems includes Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), General & Specialty Instrumentation, Online Analyzers, Process Computers & Scanning hardware, Process Data Historian, Data Visualization & Trending Tools, Alarm Management Tools, and Information Systems.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • BS/MS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or BS with equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or technical support environment; project execution experience is a plus
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS (TDC3000, Experion); Triconex and PLC configuration experience a plus
  • Knowledge of safety reviews (PHA, HEMP, LOPA, SIFPro); participation a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting base level control and instrumentation (pneumatic, electronic, DCS, etc.), including control algorithm implementation and loop tuning.
  • Knowledge of corporate policies and industry standards.
  • Effective Communication Skills (Oral/Written).
  • Able to work with diverse groups.
