Bridge Engineer-In-Training to work both independently and in the context of a project team, producing bridge design deliverables that meet or exceed the expectations of our clients, primarily the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and West Virginia Division of Highways. 

Engineer shall have obtained Engineer-In-Training certificate.  Engineer shall work under the supervision of a senior bridge engineer, alongside other engineers, designers and CADD staff to execute projects.


Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Prepare calculations for bridge, culvert and retaining wall designs

Utilize design software including:  PennDOT - PSLRFD, STLRFD, ABLRFD, BRADD, BXLRFD, BAR7; Others - STAAD, vBENT, Microstation, Geopak, Open Roads, spColumn, MDX

Prepare plans, technical specifications and cost estimates for structure designs

Prepare letters, technical reports, sketches, tables and other documents required for bridge design submissions

Perform bridge safety inspections and prepare inspection reports

Follow project delivery and quality control procedures and standards in compliance with client and division specific guidelines on time and within budget

Assist with the development of CADD drawings using Microstation

Perform construction administration duties


Job Qualifications & Skills:

Graduate Civil or Structural Engineer with up to 2 - 3 years experience and EIT certificate

Previous bridge design experience is a plus.  PennDOT experience is a plus.

Strong communication skills both written and oral

Knowledge of drafting software packages - Microstation

Education/Degree Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Masters level degree is a plus
