Jr. Mechanical Engineer - Baton Rouge, LA

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Mechanical Engineer design/specify/analyze mechanical components of small projects, reporting to either Mechanical Engineering Lead or sometimes to Lead Project Engineer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Perform Mechanical Engineer tasks on multiple small projects working in onsite Client office
  • Typical work includes: Pipe Stress analysis, Vessel/Exchanger Rerating, specifying tanks & pumps
  • Therefore proficiency needed in some software; Caesar II and COMPRESS are most desirable.
  • Applying ASME Piping Codes to both Pipe Material Class Specs & evaluation of piping isometrics.
  • Develop rough work descriptions into detailed work scopes with realistic man-hour estimates.
  • Interface with other project personnel including Plant Staff, Vendors and Construction Crews.
  • Prepare Bid Packages, Bid Tabs. Write Scopes of Work and Reports. Keep adequate records.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • 2-4+ solid years of related Mechanical Engineering experience including significant petrochemical plant work; also including design/analysis of fixed/rotating equipment and related piping.
  • Working knowledge of some Software like: Caesar II, COMPRESS, AMETank, AutoCAD, FEBend
  • Usable knowledge of Industry codes such as: ASME B31.3, BPVCode SEC VIII, API 610, & API 650. 
  • Ability to revised existing or write new Piping Specifications to meet new design parameters.
  • A current TWIC Card is highly desirable. TWIC Card is a minimum requirement of job location.

 

EDUCATION/DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
