Cost Control Engineer

Job Summary:

Establish cost tracking requirements from funding and estimates and monitor progress to evaluate productivity.  Prepare project estimates, plans and schedules by interpreting design drawings and specifications.  Work experience preferably in petrochemical/refining industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to engage with relevant stakeholders to support the generation of Project cost information, identifying options to remain within budget.
  • Finance point of contact for appropriate projects, ensuring relevant interface across stakeholders
  • Ability to review management information, provide business insight and work alongside colleagues to help deliver the support strategy and policy
  • Understanding of cost control, EVM, VAT and Foreign Exchange processes and policy.
  • Preparation and maintenance of the annual budgets, cost control and associated accounting documentation.
  • Understand the impact of any changes to the project budget.
  • Providing input to the development of finance strategies to support approval submissions for projects
  • Contributing to the development of finance planning
  • Assessing the impact of any proposed changes to the program/project budgeting
  • Ensuring that appropriate controls are in place and that any change or acquisition are compliant with governance.
  • Ensuring that any changes to the budget are communicated effectively to an appropriate audience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; deal with aggressive deadlines and changing requirements.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to comprehend complex, scope and scheduling tasks.  Satisfies all regular reporting requirements on a weekly basis.  Provide thorough analysis and presentation of findings.
  • Coordinate and monitor cost engineering activities and assisting in implementing required resources and systems to ensure availability of timely, accurate cost information and forecasts.
  • Strong leadership presence, motivational skills, and customer service oriented.

Job Qualifications:

  • 10 years experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and Primavera
