Mechanical Engineer III

CDI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to perform equipment requisitioning and design coordination activities under general supervision of Mechanical Lead/Department Manager.   This assignment may include Mechanical Lead role as well.  This position will be located at the client facility in Norco, LA. This is a full-time, benefited position. 

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Applies engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with some direction.
  • Prepares basic specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed.
  • Prepares sketches and performs calculations for a specific segment of a project.
  • Evaluates vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Assists in the development of technical specifications.
  • Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions.
  • Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases.
  • Project(s) reporting to the Project Management on a routine basis.

Qualification, Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university
  • 5 - 10 years of related industry experience.
  • Must possess familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software as well as limited experience in utilizing automated engineering software packages.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client job-sites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock.   The noise level in work place can be loud to moderate depending on assignment.
