GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

  • Support the NAVAIR Jacksonville Metrology Division to execute the Navy's Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) program.
  • Provide measurement traceability to US legal standards defined, maintained and disseminated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in support of the Navy's entire calibration program.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Analyze and design calibration procedures for mechanical, Electro-Optics systems, FLIR, camera, laser and equipment.
  • Analyze and develop requirements for Calibration Measurements Requirements Summaries (CMRS’s).
  • Develop and manage calibration procedures (ICPs - Instrument Calibration Procedures and CPARs- Calibration Problem Assistance Requests).
  • Research and design new metrology technology for calibration systems.
  • Test and repair calibration equipment.
  • Provide engineering support for the Fleet Support Teams.
  • Acquire NAVAIR METCAL calibration standards
  • Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct and solve specific, difficult mechanical engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and evaluation of causes, effects, and alternatives.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Calibration/Metrology field.
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge as it relates to NAVAIR platforms and weapons systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and mastery of advanced concepts, principles, theories, practices and techniques within the assigned Metrology Engineering areas.
  • Electro-Optics Engineering experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with NAVAIR METCAL policy is a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • ESD handling techniques.
  • Interpreting technical publications and mechanical drawings.

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Employee may access remote areas of multi-level vessels
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
