CDI Marine, LLC is actively seeking a Combat Systems Readiness Assessments Team, AEGIS Close in Weapons Systems (CIWS) SME III in support of Commander, Naval Forces Atlantic (CNSL). This position will provide shipboard training and assessments to CNSL ships and staff in support of fleet readiness that will include training and mentoring focused toward maintenance, installation, repair, troubleshooting, calibration and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical systems onboard US NAVY ships in accordance with engineering specifications.  Some travel to the ship (<20%) with potential underway time is anticipated.



  • Comply with Combat Systems department documentation standards, equipment engineering plans, system specifications and test procedures.
  • Assess shipboard level of knowledge and provide focused training to improve readiness.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback with recommendations for improvement on equipment system operation and performance.
  • Provide training on operation, maintenance and best practices for installed combat systems equipment and systems.
  • Document deficiencies and generate 2-kilos as required.
  • Generate discrepancy reports and provide to the customer via Material Deficiency Report (MDR) and Material Deficiency Forms.
  • Assess shipboard readiness to train and provide safe to train status to customer prior to conducting training.
  • Comply with applicable safety standards.
  • Provide reference information and specifications for all deficiencies.
  • Serve as senior technical trainer assisting shipboard crews to increase fleet readiness.



  • 20+ years of active USN job related experience and separation at the paygrade of E7 or above.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and provide recommended corrective actions to overcome equipment failures.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, systems and processes quickly.
  • Must work well in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Familiarity and comfort level with use of desktop tools for documentation, i.e., PowerPoint, Word and Excel, etc.
  • Must be adaptable, a creative problem-solver, self-motivated and needs to be very flexible.
  • Must have a passport or be able to obtain one in a reasonable timeframe.
  • Prepares and provides various reports and technical reviews to customer and senior management as requested.
  • Manage multiple program components and activities simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness is achieved
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • Applicant must have a current Secret clearance and may be subject to a security investigation to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.


  • CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift objects up to 30 lbs.
  • Must comply with Company’s Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
