Pipeline Instrument/Measurement Technician

Job Summary:

The role of a pipeline and measurement technician is to insure the integrity and reliability of custody and non-custody meters by Installing, calibrating and maintaining measurement systems in compliance with company policy and procedures safely and assisting with pipeline activities when needed.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, operate, maintain, inspect, test, calibrate and prove electronic flow meters, associated measurement and communications equipment
  • Utilizing common forms of measurement including the use of positive displacement meters, mass flow meters, turbine meters and orifice meters. 
  • Prove meters utilizing a portable ballistic prover.
  • Perform density meter verifications on Coriolis meters for mass proving.
  • Programming and troubleshooting OMNI and Dynamic flow computers
  • Participating as witness to all third party prover and water draws.
  • Callouts for measurement emergencies Collect samples.
  • Maintain typical measurement equipment, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, valves, etc.
  • Providing resolution suggestions regarding measurement system failures, including hands on troubleshooting and repairs when required
  • To operate safe and efficient in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Must complete and file meter test data on proper PNO forms.
  • Obtain data from electronic flow measurement (EFM) devices
  • Maintain pipeline leak detection communications, meters, PLC’s and software.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of paperwork
  • Provide field assistance for pipeline projects, both Client company and third party.
  • Performing housekeeping duties.
  • Completing mandated safety and regulatory training
  • Must have people skills and task prioritizing skills.
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.  If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Client company goals.  Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.  Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

Job Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of Meters, PLC's, Electronic Flow meter devices
  • Knowledge of programming & trouble shooting OMNI & Dynamic flow computer
  • Knowledge of measurement equipment, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitter and valves
  • Work Collaboratively with team members
  • Callouts for measurement emergencies


  • 0-2 year of pipeline/measurement technician experience
  • TWIC Card
  • Associate Degree instrumentation or related field
